GUIDED WOODLAND AND MOUNTAIN HIKES RESUME
This summer why not join a guided mountain hike that will take you high above Kylemore Abbey and its spectacular forest and lakeside setting for a very unique Connemara Experience!
The hiking trails date back to when Mitchell Henry first developed the estate in the late 1800s. The hikes offer not only breath-taking views and a myriad of photo opportunities but also an insight into the unique geology, flora, fauna and fascinating history of the region from our experienced guide, Inez.
Hikes are scheduled for Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout June, July and August.
- The 1 Hour Hike leaves at 3pm each day and costs €16.00 per person, which includes entrance fee to the Kylemore Estate.
- The 3 Hour Hike leaves at 11am and costs €19.00 per person, which includes entrance fee to the Kylemore Estate.

SEASON OF CHORAL PERFORMANCES AT KYLEMORE ABBEY
We have a number of Choral groups visiting Kylemore this summer to perform in our beautiful Neo-Gothic Church. These are all day time performances which are included in the price of your entry ticket to the estate. The Neo- Gothic Church which has been described as a ‘Cathedral in miniature’ was built by the original owner of Kylemore Abbey, ‘Mitchell Henry’ as a tribute to his beautiful wife Margaret who died tragically while on holiday in Egypt in 1874. It is a wonderfully feminine building where angels have replaced the usual gargoyles and delicate floral carvings grace the interior stone work and vaulted ceilings. The sublime acoustics and beautiful interiors make this a very unique setting in which to experience world class vocal and musical performances. For many of the performers, singing in the neo-Gothic Church can be quite an emotional experience and surely one that any visitor to Connemara should enjoy. Our line-up so far includes five choirs for June, four choirs for July and one choir for August but we expect to have additional performances to add to this list shortly.. DAILY GARDEN TOURS
Another feature of summer at Kylemore are our daily Garden Tours. The tours which are complimentary begin at 12pm each day from the meeting point which is just beside the Garden Tea House (Look out for our blackboard!). The tours which last approximately 25 to 30 min give a unique insight into the history of the garden from its origins in the 1800’s, through to its demise and eventual restoration.
